DHS published a notice in the Federal Register saying it will end the Temporary Protected Status (TPS) designation for Somalia. DHS says the decision followed a review of current country conditions and consultation with other U.S. government agencies.
Under the notice, Somalia’s TPS designation is set to end on March 17, 2026. DHS states that Somalia no longer meets the conditions required for TPS under the law.
After March 17, 2026, people who were granted TPS under Somalia’s designation will no longer have TPS. The notice also says this applies to nationals of Somalia and to aliens without nationality who last habitually resided in Somalia.
