No Borders NewsDHS has announced a six-month automatic extension of Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for people from Lebanon. The extension runs from May 28, 2026 through Nov. 27, 2026, based on the TPS statute’s automatic extension rule.
Under the TPS law, if the Secretary of Homeland Security does not make a decision about whether a country still qualifies for TPS at least 60 days before the prior TPS designation expires, the TPS designation is automatically extended for six months. DHS says it did not complete the needed determination by the statutory deadline due to rapidly changing conditions in Lebanon that required a new review.
This extension is meant to help current TPS beneficiaries avoid a sudden loss of status while DHS completes its review. DHS also states that Employment Authorization Documents (EADs) already issued under Lebanon’s TPS designation will automatically remain valid through Nov. 27, 2026.
